Our six values are not rules on a wall — they are the heartbeat of our school. They shape every lesson, every relationship, and every decision we make together as a community.

At Lozells, our school values are at the very heart of everything we do. They shape the way we treat one another, the way we learn, and the way we grow — together, as a community.

Our six values were chosen because we believe they reflect the kind of people we want our children to become. Not just as pupils here at Lozells, but throughout their whole lives.

Each value is directly linked to our curriculum drivers — the big ideas that personalise and give purpose to everything we teach. When you visit our school, you will see our values in action in every classroom, every corridor and every conversation.

What this means at Lozells

Kindness at Lozells means actively looking out for others — noticing when someone needs support and choosing to help. We teach children that small acts of kindness create a safe, warm community where everyone feels they belong. Kindness is not passive; it requires courage and intention.

In our own words

Being kind means I notice when someone is sad or left out — and I do something about it. I help without being asked, I include everyone, and I make Lozells a place where everyone feels happy and safe.

What this means at Lozells

Forgiveness is one of the most powerful and challenging values we teach. We help children understand that mistakes are part of being human — and that the ability to forgive, make amends and move forward is a sign of great emotional strength. Forgiveness heals relationships and restores trust within our community.

In our own words

Forgiveness means I understand that everyone makes mistakes — including me. When someone hurts my feelings, I can choose to forgive them and move on. It doesn't mean forgetting; it means being brave enough to let go and give people a second chance.

Determination means I don't give up when something is difficult. I set myself big goals and work hard to reach them. I know that making mistakes means I'm learning — and that if I keep trying, I can achieve anything.
